IN the late 1980s Graham POPE still had a fruit and veg stall at Welshpool Town Hall's Saturday market. Towards the end of the morning Graham would like to go for a drink at the town's Talbot Inn where the landlord at the time was named Milton MONK. Also regularly popping in was another landlord Geoff BISHOP of the town's Westwood Psak Hotel. One week it was decided there should be a photograph and the trio dressed appropriately for the occasion to match their names. Shortly before Christmas the photograoh appeared on the front page of The County Times with the ca;ption: "Have you heard the one about the Pope, the Bishop and the Monk?"
